Renault 25 TX 1990 "phase II" (Norev)

In the previous post about my trip to the Autoworld Museum (link here), I mentioned a word or two about the model shop that was there. As a decent collector, I couldn’t just walk past it. I had to explore. The choice of models turned out to be big, but the prices weren’t particularly good, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise. I was however shocked with the seller’s attitude. You would think that in a Western country, especially in a place like the museum, the customer service will be of a high standard. In this particular case – absolutely not. I haven’t come across such a brusque and boorish seller in ages. Fortunately for me and him, I did manage to find a model that was on my “To buy” list. Moreover, its price was actually pretty decent, so owning the burgundy Renault became a reality.

I already have one post-facelift Renault 25 (article on it HERE), but it was a slightly simplified version. Its biggest drawback was the lack of the chrome finishing around the windows. The model presented today has them, which for me, improves the perception of the model. Additionally, we have a grey interior (instead of a black one) and the TX guise (instead of GTS). In effect, we get a very elegant-looking miniature. Somewhat disappointing is just the unnatural positioning of the wing mirrors. Despite this, I like this model a lot. Take a look at the pics!

Największe zastrzeżenia miałem do braku chromowanych obwódek szyb. Zapraszam do obejrzenia zdjęć.

Autoworld Museum Brussels - "American Dream Cars and Bikes. The Golden Years". Fotorelacja

Obecnie w muzeum podziwiać można wystawę „American Dream Cars and Bikes. The Golden Years” poświęconą motoryzacji amerykańskiej. Organizator precyzuje, że chodzi o jej „złotej lata”. W praktyce oznacza to głównie lata 50. XX w. i kultowe amerykańskie krążowniki szos.

Zapraszam do obejrzenia fotorelacji!!

*********
I am starting the New Year on my blog with some fanfare, bringing you the report from the rather spontaneous trip to the Autoworld museum in Brussels. This report wasn’t planned, but soon after entering the hall and seeing the array of exhibits, I decided that it would be sinful not to show them on the blog. Currently in the museum you can admire the “American Dream Cars and Bikes. The Golden Years” exhibition. In practice, the “Golden Years” generally mean the 50s and the classics from that era. The exhibition itself is really well publicised in Brussels. Posters informing about it are found not only on the streets and the tube, but even in public toilets. Apart from this temporary exhibition, there are also other exhibitions with a more permanent character. In total there is over 2,400 m² of floor space and more than 200 models to explore. Majority of them are cars, but fire engines and even carriages are also exhibited. There is also something for model collectors. Scattered around the museum are model cars in a range of scales and right by the exit there is a shop selling souvenirs and model cars.

The visit to Autoworld was my first trip to a car museum and I have to admit that my impressions are definitely positive. The number of exhibits impresses and the majority of them are well displayed. It’s just a shame that you can’t have a closer look at the cars hung by the wall. One can only hope that they sometimes come down giving us an opportunity to admire them from a closer distance.  Apart from the huge amount of vehicles on display, a thing that really stood out to me was the temperature inside the building. It was so warm, that you could easily roam about in summer clothes. Otherwise – no major surprises. I can recommend the museum to all car enthusiasts and because the exhibition themes change quite regularly, everyone should find something that will suit their taste.
