Już tylko 7 dni! Tyle czasu dzieli nas od tegorocznego salonu w Genewie i oficjalnej premiery nowego, elektrycznego Renault 5. Najbardziej wyczekiwanego francuskiego samochodu od lat.
W styczniu 2021 roku Renault zaprezentowało nową strategię rozwoju nazwaną „Renaultution”. Wśród wielu słów o rentowności i transformacji padła wiadomość która zelektryzowała motoryzacyjny świat – Renault wskrzesi model 5! Podczas konferencji szef Renault Luca de Meo pokazał zdjęcia prototypu, a we wrześniu w trakcie salonu samochodowego w Monachium prototyp zaprezentowano publicznie. Wiosną 2023 roku natomiast do dziennikarskich jazd udostępniono testowe muły z nadwoziem Clio i podzespołami nowej „piątki”.
Nowe Renault 5 ma być jednym z kluczowych samochodów ofensywy modelowej firmy „Nouvelle vague”. Całkowicie elektryczne auto ma w ofercie zastąpić Zoe i pokazać, że elektryczne samochody mogą być łatwo dostępne. W zamyśle, nowy model ma być autem dla mas, tak jak jego legendarny przodek. Firma liczy też, że stanie się równie kultowy.
Przy projektowaniu 5 Prototype zespół projektantów pod wodzą Gilles’a Vidala garściami czerpał z bogatej historii kultowego modelu. Inspirowano się nie tylko pierwszym R5, ale także drugą generacją Supercinq oraz R5 Turbo. Projektanci podkreślają, że chodziło o stworzenie nowoczesnego pojazdu o popowym charakterze, ale z czytelnym vibem lat 70. Trzeba przyznać, że ta sztuka się projektantom udała! Żółty prototyp wygląda bardzo sympatycznie.
Nawiązań do przodków jest całe mnóstwo. Charakterystyczna linia nadwozia, kształt reflektorów, tylne światła w słupkach. Wszystko dobrze znane, ale w nowoczesnym wydaniu. Podobna nowoczesna interpretacja spotkała wlot powietrza, który znajdował się na masce historycznego modelu. W XXI wieku ustępuje on miejsca wskaźnikowi naładowania akumulatora, który tworzy cyfrę „5”, kiedy pojazd jest w pełni naładowany. Sprytne i praktyczne.
To, jak ważny dla Renault będzie to model pokazuje zaangażowanie producenta w jego promocję. We współpracy z agencją reklamową Publicis Conseil, Renault opracowało szeroką i wieloetapową kampanię reklamową. Jej motywem przewodnim jest hasło „R5VOLUTION IS BACK”. Pod koniec ubiegłego roku pokazano kilka „zajawek”: zdjęcia zamaskowanych przedprodukcyjnych modeli z kolorowo podkreślonymi przetłoczeniami nadwozia oraz zdjęcia różnych detali jak reflektorów czy logotypów „5”. Ujawniono też zdjęcia patentowe ukazujące samochód prawie w pełnej krasie.
30 listopada ubiegłego roku Renault uruchomiło program R5 R Pass. Za 150 euro można nabyć specjalną przepustkę umożliwiającą zamówienie nowego Renault 5 na 10 dni przed oficjalnym otwarciem zamówień i odebranie go w pierwszej kolejności już tej jesieni. Co więcej, po prezentacji Renault 5 posiadacze przepustki otrzymają miniaturę nowego samochodu i uzyskają dostęp do przedpremierowych informacji i wydarzeń dotyczących modelu. R5 R Pass jest oferowany wyłącznie przez internet w siedmiu krajach: Belgii, Francji, Hiszpanii, Holandii, Niemczech, Wielkiejj Brytanii i Włoszech. Rejestrować się do programu jeszcze można, ale dla nas to i tak nic nie znaczy bo Polska w kampanii nie bierze udziału.
Renault bardzo chce namieszać na rynku i zapowiada, że podstawowe Renault 5 E-Tech electric ma kosztować ok.25 000 euro. Czyli porównywalnie do hybrydowych aut klasy B i o wiele taniej niż inne elektryczne samochody tej wielkości. Czy rewolucja wróciła? Przekonamy się już za tydzień, na targach w Genewie.
O miniaturze
Modelik wykonało Solido. Wybór dość zaskakujący, bo do tej pory firma nigdy nie wykonywała oficjalnych „salonowych” miniatur Renault. Co może zaskakiwać jeszcze bardziej, to fakt że modelik wykonano z żywicy! Koniec świata? Nie do końca. Okazuje się, że Solido należy do tego samego koncernu co Otto (które zresztą też wykonało prototyp R5, w skali 1/18). Wiedząc to, żywiczne R5 od Solido dziwi już mniej.
Ocenianie modelu prototypu jest zawsze trochę trudniejsze, bo o ile nie byliśmy na targach motoryzacyjnych i nie widzieliśmy samochodu na żywo, ocena bazuje tylko na zdjęciach z internetu. Mimo to wydaje się, że Solido dobrze poradziło się ze zmniejszeniem samochodu 43-krotnie. Bryła nadwozia wydaję się idealna. Lakier położono równo i czysto. Pięknie oddano detale modelu jak wzór felg i rozmaite loga i emblematy. Ładnie prezentuje się też dach o czarnej, karbowanej teksturze.
W sumie modelik jest bardzo ładny i jest świetnym dodatkiem do mojej kolekcji Renault. Mam nadzieję, że miniaturka produkcyjnej wersji R5 będzie prezentowała równie wysoki poziom.

Just 7 days! That’s how much time is left to this year’s Geneva Motor Show and the official premiere of the new electric Renault 5. The most awaited French car in years.
In January 2021 Renault unveiled a new strategic plan named “Renaultution”. Among many words about profitability and transformation, another piece of news dropped, which electrified the automotive world – Renault will resurrect the R5! During the conference, Renault’s chief Luca de Meo showed photos of the prototype and in September at the Munich Motor Show the prototype itself was officially presented to the public. In September 2023 test mules with a Clio body and the new 5 underpinnings were given to journalists for test drives.
The new Renault 5 is set to be one of the key cars in the company’s “Nouvelle vague” new model offensive. The all-electric car is set to replace the Zoe in the line-up and show that electric vehicles can be easily accessible. In principle, the new model is meant to be a car for the masses, much like its legendary ancestor. The company also hopes it will become equally iconic too.
When designing the 5 Prototype, Gilles Vidal and his design team tapped into the vast heritage of this cult model. Inspiration came not only from the traditional R5, but also the second-generation Supercinq and R5 Turbo. The designers stress that they aimed to create a modern vehicle with a “pop” feel and a clear 70s vibe. I must admit they achieved their goal! The yellow prototype looks very heart-warming.
There is a whole load of references to the predecessors here. The characteristic body shape, shape of headlights, vertically stacked rear lights. All very familiar, but with a modern take. A similarly modern interpretation met the air vent found on the bonnet of the historic model. In XXI century it gave way to a charging indicator light, which forms a number “5”when the car is fully charged. Smart and practical.
How important this model will be for Renault shows in how invested the brand is in promoting it. Renault teamed up with the creative agency Publicis Conseil to develop a wide-range advertising campaign. Its main theme and motto is “R5VOLUTION IS BACK”. At the end of last year a few teasers were released: images of camouflaged pre-production models with coloured shutlines and photos of various details such as headlights or “5” badges. Patent images were also released, almost fully revealing the production model.
On 30th November 2023 Renault launched the R5 R Pass. For £150 (or €150) you can get a priority pass allowing you to order a new Renault 5, 10 days before orders open to the general public and have a priority build slot when production begins. On top of that, when the R5 is finally revealed R5 R Pass holders will receive a scale model of the new car and have first access to content and launch events. The R5 R Pass is only available online and only in seven countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK. You can still register for the R5 R Pass if you’re tempted!
Renault really wants to stir-up the market and announces that an entry-level Renault 5 E-Tech electric will start from €25,000 in Europe. That’s comparable to B-class hybrid hatchbacks and a lot less than other electric cars of similar size. Is the R5volution really back? We’ll find out in a week’s time, at the Geneva Motor Show.
About the miniature
The model is done by Solido. Quite a surprising choice, as up until now Solido has not done any official “dealership” Renault miniatures. What can be even more surprising is that this is a resin model! Is this the end of the world? Not quite. It turns out Solido is a sister brand to Otto (which has also made a model of the R5 Prototype, in 1/18 scale). Knowing this, a resin R5 from Solido is less surprising.
Assessing a model of a prototype is always slightly trickier, because unless you’ve been to a motor show and seen the car live, all you can go off are photos from the web. Despite that, it seems that Solido did a great job of minimising the car 43 times. It looks like the body proportions are spot on. The paintwork is even and clean. Intricate details of the model like alloy wheel pattern and various logos and emblems have been beautifully replicated. The black, textured roof looks really good too.
Overall the miniature is very nice and is a great addition to my Renault collection. I hope that the miniature of the production version of the R5 will be of the same, high level.
